Songs & Legends from Newry, the Mournes & Carlingford Lough
As a singer, I've performed across the world with ANÚNA, Tourist Walk and Nova Collective. Along the way, I've enjoyed lending vocals to acts like Liam Ó'Maonlaí, Jimmy McCarthy & Sam Lee, amongst others. I've also sung at song sessions across Ireland, and I've learned a lot about Irish traditions in these moments.
I love folksong and am intrigued by how the songs we sing express our identity. I believe the voice is the most powerful and direct tool we have in our daily lives; it's the most natural and the most personal, the most rational and the most emotional. In my research, I'm exploring folklore's impact on community identity and cultural expression in the 21st century. The songbook also includes contributions from internationally-recognised singers and musicians. Watch this space.
